CIRQUE TROIS is the third piece in an ongoing series exploring balance, rhythm, and the relationship between multiple figures in motion.
At 1/4 scale, this maquette continues the dialogue established in the earlier works, but with a greater sense of complexity and interaction. The three figures are not isolated forms, they rely on one another, each movement affecting the next, creating a continuous flow of tension and release.
Working in clay allows the process to remain visible. The surface carries the energy of making, where decisions are still fluid and the composition is discovered through adjustment rather than fixed from the start. The piece exists in a state of transition, holding both structure and spontaneity.
While the series draws from the idea of performance, CIRQUE TROIS is less about spectacle and more about connection. It reflects the subtle negotiations between bodies in space, how they support, challenge, and respond to one another.
As a maquette for bronze, it lays the groundwork for a more permanent form, but it also stands as a resolved moment within the series, where movement, balance, and relationship come into sharper focus.
